
This is part of the recently-issued digital technology industry development program for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
Under the program, by 2030, Viet Nam will gain at least US$55 billion per year from exporting digital technology products and services made by Vietnamese digital technology enterprises, with an average annual growth rate of at least 30 percent.
The nation will strive to have 100,000 digital technology enterprises and train a workforce of over 3 million people in the digital technology industry.
By 2045, Viet Nam aims to become a country with a developed digital technology industry, emerging as a leading digital technology hub in the region and among the world's top groups.
The digital technology industry will become a key economic sector, making a significant contribution to national growth and prosperity.
The Government seeks to establish at least 10 digital technology companies on par with leading international peers, and attract at least five new projects from the world's leading technology organizations and enterprises to build headquarters, research, and production facilities in the country.
In 2025, the industry's total revenue hit an estimated US$198 billion, marking a 26 percent jump from last year and coming in 16 percent above the annual target. Its GDP contribution reached VND1.075 quadrillion (nearly US$40.9 billion), up 10 percent from 2024.
Active digital technology firms numbered 80,052, a 10 percent rise from 2024, highlighting the sector's vitality and expanding domestic ecosystem.
Last year, Viet Nam's digital economy was worth around US$39 billion in gross merchandise value, posting an expansion of 17 percent – the second fastest growth in Southeast Asia./.
