The construction project has total investment capital of more than VND2.4 trillion (nearly US$103 million).
The terminal will be built within 18 months by the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) which operates all 22 commercial airports in Viet Nam.
Once completed, the second termina will handle domestic services while the existing terminal will become the international terminal.
The first terminal with total investment capital of over US$60 million was put into operation on May 12, 2016.
The airport has a runway of 3,050 meters long and 45 meters wide, a taxiway and an apron capable of providing ten parking positions for Airbus A320, A321 planes.
It can receive large aircraft such as Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus A330 and Airbus A350, with night flight service.
