The design of the Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province

One of the railway projects would like Bien Hoa city in Dong Nai province and Vung Tau city in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the other would connect Ho Chi Minh City's Thu Thiem and Long Thanh international airport.

The Thu Thiem – Long Thanh airport railway would start at the Thu Thiem Station and end at the Long Thanh International Airport.

The 37.5km route would be built in public-private partnership model at a cost of VND 40,566 billion.

Meanwhile, the 65km Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railway would run from Trang Bom station in Dong Nai's Trang Bom district to Ho Chi Minh City's Cai Mep – Thi Vai international port.

The rail line would also be built in public-private partnership model with total investment capital of over VND 50,822 billion.

The two rail lines are expected to help ease traffic congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway, National Highway 51 and the planned Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway.

Long Thanh International Airport

Covering a total area of more than 5,580 hectares, the Long Thanh International Airport will spread across six communes in Long Thanh district in Dong Nai province. The airport's total investment is VND 336.63 trillion (US$ 14.47 billion), with construction divided into three phases.

Once fully completed by 2050, the airport will be able to handle 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo annually.

Located 40km to the east of Ho Chi Minh City, the airport is expected to relieve overloading at Tan Son Nhat international airport in the southern metropolis, now the country's largest airport.
