General election results may be released by March 25

VGP - The results of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly are expected to be released no later than March 25, according to Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh.

Nguyen, who is also a member of the National Election Council, said the general election held on March 15 following the 14th National Party Congress has created a positive effect. Personnel preparations for the general election ensured reasonable structure and representation of all social strata while maintaining a strong focus on candidate quality.

She expressed high expectations for the successful outcome of the election, which will select more capable and qualified deputies to the legislature. The new term of the National Assembly as well as People's Councils at all levels is expected to meet the requirements of national reform and prepare for the country to enter a new era of development and national advancement.

Nguyen added that the National Election Council plans to announce the election results before March 25, 2026, with the official announcement expected on March 22, 2026.

Following the announcement, the Council will officially confirm the qualifications of elected deputies before conducting a comprehensive review of the election.

The Council is also seeking opinions from competent authorities to organise the first session of the new National Assembly, which is scheduled for early April 2026.

At this first session, the 16th National Assembly will discuss personnel work, including election of new National Assembly leadership, the State President, Vice State President, and members of the Government.

Earlier, Ta Thi Yen, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for Deputy Affairs and Standing Deputy Chief of the Office of the National Election Council, announced that as of 22:00 on March 15, nationwide voter turnout had reached 99.64 percent.

By the end of the voting process, polling stations across the country maintained a stable, orderly, and serious atmosphere, with strict compliance with electoral laws and regulations. Public opinion generally showed confidence, consensus, and support for the election, with voters demonstrating a clear awareness of the value of their ballots.

Political security and social order and safety were maintained, with no complex incidents or unusual situations reported./.
