Four Vietnamese officers to depart for UN peacekeeping missions

Deputy Minister of Defense Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated the officers and said this is the first deployment of the Viet Nam People's Army to participate in peacekeeping operations in 2024.

He ordered the four officers to promote the spirit of solidarity, strictly comply with mission command and administration, and observe strict discipline of the Viet Nam People's Army.

Viet Nam has to date sent 792 officers and professional soldiers as individuals and units (including 109 officers deployed as individuals, 92 men and 17 women).

Of the total 83 peacekeepers who returned home after completing their terms, 25 were honored by the UN for successfully completing their missions and awarded Certificates of Merit.
