The above figure was released at a Cabinet meeting that took place in Ha Noi on August 25.

This is the remarkable achievement to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (1945-2025), noted Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

A survey conducted by the end of 2023 showed that nearly 400,000 temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide still needed to be demolished and rebuilt. This led to the adoption of a special project to rebuild temporary and dilapidated houses.

To date, the nation has eradicated 334,234 makeshift and dilapidated homes, with total investment of nearly VND50 trillion (nearly US$1.9 billion) mobilized from multiple sources.

Local authorities have mobilized 454,000 participants, over 2.7 million working days, and VND24.76 trillion from State budget, social resources, and local communities.

The project carries profound political, social, and humanitarian significance, as hundreds of thousands of families now have home to live in, and millions of lives have had their future illuminated, said Prime Minister Pham.

With the consistent viewpoint that people are the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force, and the most important resource for development-leaving no one behind-and without sacrificing progress, fairness, social security, or the environment for the sake of mere growth, the Party and the State have prioritized resources to care for the material and spiritual well-being of the people, including supporting poor households, policy beneficiaries, and vulnerable groups, told the leader.

The project is also a remarkable achievement in the cause of sustainable poverty reduction, enhancing the development for fairness, social progress, and sustainability in the new era, emphasized the Prime Minister./.
