A shipment of 400 semi-trailers from THACO INDUSTRIES, part of THACO Group, has been loaded onto the SEA TRAIN vessel (Panama), embarking on its journey from Chu Lai Port to JAXPORT.

This is the first time Chu Lai Port has received a vessel with a capacity of up to 40,000 DWT without the need for transshipment, creating significant opportunities for export businesses in Central Viet Nam.

The new maritime route from Chu Lai Port passes through major ports such as Kanda (Japan), Busan (South Korea), Nantong (China), and JAXPORT (U.S.). This route enables goods from Central Viet Nam to quickly access major markets in Asia and the U.S., providing a competitive advantage for export businesses.

A representative of Chu Lai Port said that the demand for exporting goods from Central Viet Nam to the U.S. is currently very high.

To meet this demand, the port has collaborated with several international shipping lines to expand maritime routes to both the East and West Coasts of the U.S. with a frequency of four trips per month, ensuring continuous and efficient transportation capabilities.

Notably, the development of direct maritime routes to the U.S. not only enhances Chu Lai Port's competitiveness but also serves as a catalyst for boosting exports from businesses in major industrial zones in the region.

Additionally, it helps reduce logistics costs, optimize transportation time, and promote the region's economic growth.

Chu Lai Port is a major port in central Viet Nam, emerging as a key player on the maritime map and a vital supply chain hub in the Southeast Asian nation while JAXPORT is Florida's largest container port and one of the U.S. largest vehicle-handling ports.

During January-November 2024, the U.S. represented Viet Nam’s largest export market with a turnover of US$108.9 billion, up 23.9 percent, while import turnover from this market reached US$13.5 billion, up 7.3 percent.

Viet Nam has become the eighth largest trading partner of the U.S. and the fourth largest export market of the U.S. in Southeast Asia./.
