This is the third air route between Da Nang and Kuala Lumper, with a frequency of seven flights per week, raising the total number of weekly flights between the two cities to 28.
Malaysia is among the top tourist source markets of Da Nang, with 75,000 visitors in the first seven months of 2024.
Last month, Malaysia introduced a tourism promotion program–"Discovery Malaysia" – in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
The new air route will connect tourists to the UNESCO-recognized world heritage sites in central Viet Nam such as Hue Monuments complex in Thua Thien-Hue province, the My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An ancient town in Quang Nam Province with destinations in Malaysia, according to the city's Tourism Fund.
According to the Da Nang Statistical Office, the city welcomed approximately 2.5 million international visitors from January to July 2024, marking a 34.7 percent increase over the same period in 2023.
This surge has brought Da Nang close to its annual target of 8.42 million visitors, with projections suggesting that the city could see up to 3.5 million international tourists by the end of the year-approaching pre-pandemic levels./.
