Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavsky made that above statement during his phone conversation with Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son on July 15.

Jan Lipavsky reiterated that the Czech Government advocates stronger relationship between Viet Nam and the European Union (EU).

As the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the second half of 2022, the Czech Republic will urge the EU to consider proposals of Viet Nam in removing the "yellow card" on Vietnamese seafood exports as well as EU member states to early ratify the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

For his part, the Vietnamese diplomat emphasized that Viet Nam focuses on fostering relationship with traditional partners, including the Czech Republic - one of Viet Nam's priority partners in the Central and Eastern Europe.

He took the occasion to express thanks to the Czech Government for donating 250,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Viet Nam.

Both sides expressed their delight on the close and effective collaboration between the two ministries at multi-lateral forums, consenting to enhance cooperation and mutual support at international and regional organizations.

The pledged to accelerate effective and practical coordination across potential and advantageous sectors as well as encourage and facilitate joint projects of their businesses in line with the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The two Ministers vowed to effectively implement the outcomes of the seventh meeting of the Viet Nam-Czech Republic Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic Cooperation held in Prague last June.
