Bui made the above remarks during his reception for Cambodian Ambassador to Viet Nam Chea Kimtha in Ha Noi on July 31.
He welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, describing it as a positive and constructive step toward restoring peace and paving the way for future cooperation. He also extended heartfelt sympathy to both nations for the losses and damage caused by recent border tensions, especially among civilians.
Bui suggested Viet Nam and Cambodia enhance coordination in preparing for upcoming high-level visits, reiterating Viet Nam's readiness to welcome Cambodian leaders to attend the 80th National Day celebrations.
He also called for continued collaboration to ensure the success of the 21st meeting of the Viet Nam–Cambodia Joint Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation—scheduled to take place in Cambodia—and the 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development between Border Provinces.
In response, Ambassador Chea Kimtha recommended that the two sides strengthen information sharing and cooperation in tackling transnational crimes, especially online scams.
She also briefed the host on the outcomes of recent Cambodia–Thailand negotiations held in Malaysia, noting that both countries had reached a ceasefire agreement. She affirmed Cambodia's firm commitment to fully implementing the agreement and upholding its policy of promoting lasting peace and stability with Thailand and other regional partners.
The ambassador expressed appreciation to countries, including Viet Nam, for their timely support and efforts in promoting the ceasefire. She acknowledged Bui's remarks at the July 28 reception commemorating the 30th anniversary of Viet Nam's ASEAN membership.
Chea Kimtha commended Viet Nam's willingness to actively support Cambodia and Thailand in implementing the ceasefire agreement and fostering cooperation in the spirit of ASEAN unity and solidarity—for the long-term benefit of both countries and the broader region./.
