Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu made the above statement in a recent interview regarding Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the largest-ever SCO summit scheduled to take place in Tianjian from August 31-September 1.

The Prime Minister's upcoming tour to China carries profound significance and important purposes, noted Nguyen.

The Vietnamese Party and State leaders invited to attend the expanded summits of organizations and mechanisms in which Viet Nam is not a member-such as the G7, G20, BRICS, and the SCO-demonstrates that international friends and partners highly value Viet Nam's role and position, he said.

It also means that countries expect to hear Viet Nam's perspectives and voice on issues of security, politics, and development in the region and the world, emphasized Nguyen.

Moreover, heads of the Governments of the SCO member states, as well as invited leaders such as Viet Nam will have chances to share and exchange specific measures to strengthen cooperation and enhance multilateralism to maintain and ensure regional stability and security.

During the visit, the Vietnamese Prime Minister will meet with Chinese leaders and business representatives to further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and build a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

In particular, leaders from both countries will seek ways to promote practical cooperation in economy, trade, and investment, as well as advancing major projects on strategic infrastructure development.

Pham's upcoming exchanges with Chinese leaders will help enhance strategic dialogue, further strengthen strategic trust, and find out solutions to address existing differences and disagreements in bilateral relations, thereby contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for the country.

China is the top supplier of goods to Viet Nam with the two-way trade reaching US$205.2 billion in 2024, up 19.3 percent against the previous year.

Tourism cooperation has also recovered and grown strongly, with China regaining its position as the largest source of visitors to Viet Nam, recording over 3.1 million arrivals in the first seven months of 2025, accounting for 22.5 percent of total international visitors to the country./.
