Prime Minister meets San Francisco Mayor
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recommended that the government of San Francisco create favorable conditions for about 50,000 overseas Vietnamese living there.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister made the point on May 17 (local time) during a reception for San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
Mayor London Breed warmly welcomed the Prime Minister and his entourage to San Francisco which is a sister city of Viet Nam's Ho Chi Minh City.
She spoke highly of Viet Nam's socio-economic achievements, its capacity to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and economic reopening, saying that she was also impressed with the high vaccination coverage rate of over 80 percent in Viet Nam.
In reply, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that there are wide room for Viet Nam and San Francisco to step up cooperation as the American city is home to the second largest Vietnamese population in the U.S. and the first place where Viet Nam sets up its Consulate General in the U.S.
Thanks to favorable aviation connectivity, a large number of Vietnamese firms are interested in opening up representative offices and operation here, the Prime Minister said.
He asked the two sides to boost exchanges of delegation, people-to-people ties, cooperate in manpower training, medical capacity, and business activities./.
