Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sets deadline for ending IUU fishing
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged authorities to put an end to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing by November 15, 2025.

The Prime Minister fixed the deadline while addressing the meeting of the National Steering Committee for IUU Fishing Combat in Ha Noi on September 30.
The Government chief urged competent authorities to strengthen inspection and supervision and strictly fine those who fail to comply with related regulations.
Ministries, agencies and localities must coordinate to ensure that vessels without valid certificate of operation shall not be allowed to set sail.
Individuals and organizations violating fishing regulations shall have their certificate of operation confiscated.
Pham tasked the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, relevant ministries and localities to work together to strictly control the origin of seafood.
He urged the Ministry of Justice to promptly amend and supplement regulations on administrative sanctions in the direction of increasing fines to deter violations.
Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of coastal provinces and cities have to lead the enforcement of measures to combat IUU fishing, ensure that all violations must be sanctioned, submit weekly reports to the Government on Mondays, and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to handle criminal cases./.
