Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets Chinese President Xi Jinping

Pham conveyed the greatings and best wishes of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and other Viet Nam's senior leaders to President Xi.

He expressed his wish that under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of China with comrade Xi as the core leader, China would successully realize its second centenary goal to build China into a great modern socialist country.

President Xi extended greetings to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong, and congratulated Viet Nam on its socio-economic development achievements.

Xi expressed his belief in Viet Nam's capacity to successfully realize the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress to turn the Southeast Asian nation into a socialist-oriented developed country with high income by the mid-21st century.

Both sides were pleased with the positive growth momentum of the bilateral ties, emphasizing that the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and China built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong and generations of the sides' leaders and people is the valuable common asset, which should be further inherited, protected and promoted.

Prime Minister Pham reassured that developing the relationship with China in the stable, healthy, sustainable and long-term manner is always the strategic direction and the top priority of Viet Nam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of external affairs.

He also affirmed Viet Nam consistently adheres to the "One China" policy and stands ready to discuss with China about its global initiatives.

Prime Minister Pham suggested the two sides step up contacts and improve the quality of cooperation across fields, particularly economy, trade and investment.

He asked the Chinese side to speed up market access for Viet Nam's agricultural products and create favorable conditions for Viet Nam to open more trade promotion offices in China.

Pham welcomed Chinese investors to expand high-quality investments in Viet Nam, expressing his wish that the two countries would continue to strengthen people-to-people exchanges in order to contribute to consolidating firm social backgrounds for the advancement of the bilateral ties.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared concern; agreed to jointly control and properly handle disagreements, maintain peace and stability at sea, and consolidate a favorable environment for the development in each country./.
