Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh holds phone call with Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday had a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the Viet Nam-Malaysia relations and newly-emerging regional and international issues.

Prime Minister Anwar informed that Malaysia, as the current Chair of ASEAN, will host ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting on April 10 to discuss measures to strengthen intra-bloc connectivity and cooperation following the U.S. Administration's announcement of new reciprocal tariff policy.
Prime Minister Pham briefed about Viet Nam's recent efforts in exchange with the U.S., including the phone conversation between General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump on April 4 to discuss the means to promote economic and trade cooperation in a fair and sustainable manner.
Pham welcomed Malaysia's initiative to covene ASEAN Economic Ministerial Meeting and pledged to send the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade to attend the meeting.
Anwar said Malaysia and many other countries in the region highly valued General Secretary To Lam's phone conversation with President Donald Trump, expressing his support for Viet Nam's approach to this issue.
Anwar also informed Pham about Malaysia's measures to address the Myanmar issue, including the visit to Myanmar by the Malaysian Foreign Minister on April 5.
Prime Minister Pham welcomed Malaysia's efforts in resolving the Myanmar issue, especially its effective assistance, sense of responsibility and active role in promoting ASEAN's coordinated actions to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the recent powerful earthquake.
Viet Nam has promptly sent a rescue team of more than 100 people, along with many medical equipment and supplies, and provided US$300,000 in aid to support Myanmar, said Pham, adding that Viet Nam will continue active collaboration with Malaysia and other ASEAN Member States in the common efforts to promote dialogue and national reconciliation in Myanmar.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue exchanges to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries for peace, stabilty and prosperity in each country, in the region and the world./.
