Prime Minister orders deployment of forces, equipment to supply food to flood-hit residents
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday ordered deployment of forces and equipment, including helicopters to supply food and necessities to residents in flood-hit areas.

He made the order in an official telegram addressed to northern localities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hoa Binh, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Ha Noi, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa.
The move was made as prolonged heavy rains induced by typhoon Yagi have cause widespread and severe flooding and landslides in northern mountainous provinces.
The Government chief also requested authorities to ensure the safety of dykes and reservoirs, promptly detect and handle incidents. Secretaries of Party Committees at all levels, and Chairmen of flood-hit provinces and cities must give priority to ensuring the lives and health of the people, focus on directing the search and rescue of missing persons.
Local leaders shall direct the supply of food and necessities to those in need, especially residents in isolated areas in order to leave no one hungry or homeless.
Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm in the East Sea, reached Viet Nam's northern coastline in the afternoon of September 7 and weakened to a tropical pressure in the morning of September 8.
Yagi has killed at least 141 dead and 59 others are still missing./.
