The Government chief made the call during his inspection tour to the Long Thanh International Airport construction site on December 3.

The Prime Minister also ordered that the airport must be put into operation prior to February 28, 2026.

Long Thanh International Airport, located in the southern province of Dong Nai, has a total investment capital of around VND336.63 trillion (US$13.38 billion).

The first phase involves construction of one runway, a passenger terminal, and supporting facilities with a capacity to serve 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually.

Last week, the National Assembly approved a revised plan for the Long Thanh International Airport, which added a second runway to the first construction phase.

The airport will be expanded in the second and third phases to raise the capacity to 50 million and eventually 100 million passengers a year./.
