Prime Minister meets Nepalese counterpart ahead of SCO Summit

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Nepalese counterpart Khadga Prasad Oli ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in China's Tianjin on August 31.

Prime Minister Oli expressed his admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese people, saying that when he was young, he joined demonstrations to show support for Viet Nam's independence.

Oli took the occasion to convey greetings to General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong and other senior Party and State leaders and people of Viet Nam.

He said Nepal wishes to learn Viet Nam's national construction experience.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham extended sincere thanks to Nepal and Prime Minister Oli for their affection and support for Viet Nam's past struggle for national independence and current development course.

Pham suggested Viet Nam and Nepal should enhance the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, affirming that Viet Nam stands ready to help Nepal train public officials.

Pham also urged Nepal to create favorable conditions for Viet Nam's business giants, including Viettel to seek opportunities and invest in Nepal.

Both sides agreed to further tighten the friendship and good cooperation between the two countries; promote the signing of new agreements on trade and investment cooperation in a bid to lift up the bilateral ties on par with their potential and aspirations.

The two leaders affirmed their strong determination to strengthen cooperation in culture, tourism, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and people-to-people exchanges.

They also affirmed their resolve to support each other at regional and international forums./.
