Prime Minister meets Malaysian counterpart at BRICS Summit sidelines
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim ahead of the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 6.

The two leaders emphasized the importance of creating new momentum to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, especially through the action program for the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership for the 2025–2030 period.
Both sides vowed to continue enhancing all-level delegation exchanges and contacts and effectively implement existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
The two Prime Ministers pledged to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation, especially through boosting trade in goods of both countries' potential and strengths, such as agricultural and aquatic products, food, electronic components, and construction materials.
They also agreed to intensify collaboration in agriculture, fisheries, food security, energy, oil and gas, and power transmission among ASEAN countries.
The pair committed to expanding cooperation in emerging areas such as digital economy, circular economy, and green economy.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and pledged to work together with other ASEAN countries to strengthen cooperation, solidarity, and ASEAN's centrality.
Anwar suggested the two countries establish a cooperation mechanism for fishing and marine resource exploitation, which needs the involvement of businesses from both sides.
The two sides agreed to long-term cooperation to ensure food security for Malaysia. Viet Nam will ensure stable rice exports to Malaysia.
Pham emphasized that Viet Nam advocates and will do its utmost to assist Malaysia in successfully fulfilling its role as ASEAN Chair in 2025. Anwar expressed his appreciation for Viet Nam's support and close coordination with Malaysia during its ASEAN Chairmanship year./.
