Prime Minister meets leaders of France' business giants in Paris

VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 11 had meetings with leaders of several business giants from France and Europe as part of his working visit to the European nation.

At the meeting with Alstom's CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge, the Prime Minister proposed that the corporation work with the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and relevant businesses and agencies to carry out specific tasks in railway projects.

Poupart-Lafarge said the corporation expects to participate in the Ha Noi–Ho Chi Minh City high-speed railway project and stands ready to share high-speed rail technology, as well as joins hands with Vietnamese enterprises to develop the national railway industry.

Alstom has been present in Viet Nam for over 30 years and has since actively participated in the country's infrastructure development projects, such as the modernization of the railway signaling and telecommunications systems. The company also provided core E&M electrical equipment for Ha Noi Metro Line 3, which began commercial operations in August 2024.

During his meeting with Rafik Amrane, head of Manufacturing & Supply at Opella, a French leading pharmaceutical company, the Prime Minister welcomed Opella's continued expansion of investment in Viet Nam, encouraging the company to strengthen technology transfer, workforce training, and use of local materials—not only to serve Viet Nam's 100 million people but also the broader Southeast Asian market.

Viet Nam is amending laws and related regulations to enhance the recognition of quality inspection results for imported goods from countries and regions with high technical standards as well as working to minimize administrative procedures and reducing compliance time and costs for businesses and investors, he noted.

At the meeting with the leader of Thales Group, Pham emphasized that space exploration is a key direction in Viet Nam's development strategy.

He proposed that Thales work with the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to participate in satellite projects in the country.

The Group hopes to cooperate with Vietnamese relevant sides in the field of telecommunications satellites, including a telecommunications satellite for VINASAT-3, told leader of Thales Group.

During the meeting between the Vietnamese Prime Minister and Executive Vice President International of Airbus Wouter van Wersch, Pham proposed that Airbus deepen its cooperation with Viet Nam in aviation sector via aircraft purchase agreements with reasonable pricing and early delivery.

He also called for technology transfer, workforce training, aircraft warranty and maintenance services. In the long term, he suggested bolstering collaboration in research and production of aircraft components, as well as space exploration.

Wersch expressed his wish to continue cooperating with Viet Nam Airlines in modernizing its fleet and promote collaboration in the field of space technology, particularly by providing advanced optical satellite solutions to build on the success of the VNREDSat-1 satellite.

He emphasized the need to foster stronger ties in the use of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly fuels, and artificial intelligence (AI) development./.
