Prime Minister leaves for ASEAN Summits in Laos
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Ha Noi on Tuesday morning for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and Related Meetings in Vientiane, Laos.
The tour is made at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
Pham is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To, and Deputy Minister of National Defense Hoang Xuan Chien, among others.
Under the theme "ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience", the meetings will offer an opportunity for countries to discuss and make strategic decisions relating to major issues facing ASEAN and the region as well.
There will be more than 20 activities in Laos from October 8-11, with the attendance of over 2,000 delegates from ASEAN member countries, Timor-Leste, ASEAN's partner countries, and many regional and international organizations.
The regional leaders are expected to attend the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, co-chair dialogues with representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, and young people, and attend the second summit of the Asia Zero Emission Community.
They will work on more than 80 documents on various matters, including intra-bloc cooperation, as well as collaboration between ASEAN and partners, supply chain connectivity, digital cooperation, plastic circulation, climate change response, biodiversity, education, sustainable agriculture, and people-to-people exchange.
Viet Nam has closely coordinated with and supported Laos to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024, contributing to nourishing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
The nation has effectively implemented priorities proposed by Laos and joined hands with other countries to implement the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 and develop cooperation strategies until 2045 as well as worked together with other ASEAN Member States to strengthen the solidarity and unity of the bloc./.
