About 14 percent of the funding has been disbursed, according to the Prime Minister.

Pham also spoke highly of HSBC's close cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to lure and assist international investors to shift or expand production in Viet Nam.

He urged HSBC to actively support Viet Nam in deploying infrastructure, energy transition and green projects in a bid to help the Southeast Asian country to successfully realize its net-zero commitments by 2050.

Mark Tucker for his part said spoke highly of Viet Nam's capacity to handle global issues, such as COVID-19, climate change, greenhouse gas emission reduction, as well as its measures to overcome middle-income trap.

He informed the Prime Minister about HSBC's global investment strategy and the outcomes of green financing in Viet Nam.

HSBC set up its first office in Sai Gon in 1870, a branch in Ho Chi Minh City in 1995 and 100% foreign-invested bank in Viet Nam in 2009./.
