Prime Minister hosts Chief Financial Officer of Samsung
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for visiting Chief Financial Officer of Samsung Group Park Hark Kyu in Ha Noi on June 21.
Pham lauded Samsung's contributions to Viet Nam's socio-economic development over the past years, welcoming the tech giant's plan to deploy production and business activities in the near future.
The Vietnamese Government commits to creating favorable conditions and remove difficulties and obstacles for the corporation to launch effective operation in the country, asserted the Prime Minister.
He expressed his hope that Samsung will continue supporting Viet Nam in improving the capacity of domestic businesses to participate more effectively in the supply chain and become a partner in the group's ecosystem while promoting research and development (R&D) activities, and supporting startups and innovation in Viet Nam.
Samsung should continue considering the Southeast Asian nation as a strategic production base for R&D and production of key products, he suggested.
Viet Nam expects to cooperate with the world's leading countries, economies, businesses, and partners in newly-emerging industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and hydrogen, including Samsung, the Vietnamese leader shared.
Park Hark Kyu, for his side, expressed thanks to the assistance of Viet Nam for the tech giant to overcome difficulties and challenges, expecting that the nation will continue improving its business environment.
Samsung pledges to always stand by Viet Nam and do its utmost to contribute to the nation's socio-economic development in the upcoming time, he said.
Samsung is currently the largest foreign direct investor in Viet Nam, with a total registered investment capital of US$22.6 billion. In 2023, its revenue and exports reached US$65 billion and US$55.7 billion, respectively. As of March 2024, its revenue and exports reached US$ 17.2 billion and US$ 15 billion, respectively./.
