Prime Minister calls for higher determination to realize Viet Nam's COP26 pledges
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday called for higher determination and greater efforts in combating climate change and realizing Viet Nam's COP26 commitments.
The call was made in the context that climate change is becoming increasingly extreme as evidenced by its increasingly complex evolution and increasingly serious consequences.
It takes more efforts and more resources to overcome the consequences of climate change, which has become an urgent task that no single country can do alone, Prime Minister Pham emphasized.
In responding to climate change, it is a must to fruitfully promote green conversion, digital transformation, energy transition and emission reduction as they are irreversible trends, Pham underscored.
Pham also called for focusing on improving legal framework for mobilizing resources from foreign partners and public-private partnership, boosting technological transfer and developing high-quality human resource for climate change adaptation.
In an effort to realize the COP26 pledges, the Government approved strategies on national hydrogen energy development, national energy development, national automobile development.
It also adopted plans to implement the 8th National Power Development Plan, the Glassgow Declaration on Forests and Land Use, and the Just Energy Transition Partnership.
The Prime Minister has approved a list of national key programs and projects in the energy sector and a list of industrial establishments subject to emission inventory./.
