The project involves building 38 housing blocks with 5,300 apartments in an urban area south of Vinh Phuc city, about 50km from Ha Noi capital.

The project aims to concretize the Government's program to build at least one million social housing units by 2030. Under the plan, the Government assigned Vinh Phuc province to build 28,300 apartments.

Dang Xuan Phong, Secretary of the Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee said Vinh Phuc gives top priority to social housing development as the locality is home to nine industrial parks, creating more than 260,000 workers.

In April 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision 338/QD-TTg approving a program to build 1,062,200 social housing apartments for low-income earners and workers in industrial parks and processing zones in the 2021-2030 period.

Of the above figure, 428,000 apartments will be built by 2025 and the rest of 634,200 apartments will be built by the end of this decade.

The program is expected to cost over VND 849 trillion (US$37.7 billion).

In the short term, the State Bank of Viet Nam will disburse a low-rate credit package worth around VND 120 trillion for social housing development in line with Resolution 33/NQ-CP, dated March 11, 2023./.
