Prime Minister attends groundbreaking ceremony for Western Ring Road in Can Tho
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Thursday attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Western Ring Road project in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
This is an important project as it connects National Highway 91 and National Highway 61C, contributing to forming an inter-regional transportation system, thus creating a new development impetus for the city.
With the total capital investment of VND3,837 billion (or US$154.7 million), the project is expected to put into operation by 2026.
The road is 19.4-kilometer long, consisting of 24 medium and small bridges and one large bridge.
Addressing the event, Pham underscored the significance of the project as it will open a new development space for the city, asking the parties involved to ensure the progress and the quality of the project, and complete the project ahead of the schedule.
PM Pham stated that as much as VND470,000 billion (nearly US$19 billion) have been mobilized for investment in strategic transport and infrastructure projects nationwide.
Remarkably, the investment capital for the development of infrastructure in the Mekong Delta has hit a new record high, he emphasized./.
