Prime Minister asks for expanding visa exemption, preferential visa policies
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the need to study and expand visa exemption and preferential visa policies at a meeting held in Ha Noi on Monday.

Attendants to the meeting were Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Ministers Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son and Nguyen Chi Dung.
The Prime Minister also requested reviewing and amending nationality regulations to align with the current situation.
The Cabinet members highly appreciated the efforts made by the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant ministries and agencies in promptly implementing the assigned tasks regarding unilateral visa exemption policy and preferential visa policies, making visa policies increasingly open and convenient.
Viet Nam's visa policy still needs further improvements to promote tourism industry, and attract foreign investors and experts in various fields. Enhancing the country's image as a safe and hospitable destination will also help further elevate Viet Nam's position and reputation on the global stage.
They also emphasized the need to facilitate overseas Vietnamese who wish to regain Vietnamese nationality. This reflects the Party and State's recognition and care for overseas Vietnamese, meeting their aspirations while harnessing the valuable resources of the Overseas Vietnamese for national development and defense—especially in the "era of national rise".
Viet Nam waives visas for citizens from 12 countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland from March 15, 2025 to March 14, 2028.
The nation has also waived visas for tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland from March 1 to December 31, 2025.
The Government decided to issue e-visa to citizens from 80 countries since July 1, 2020; and to citizens from all countries and territories from August 15, 2023.
Visitors with e-visas can enter Viet Nam at eight international airports, or arrive via land at 16 international border gates and via sea at 13 ports across the country./.
