Prime Minister appoints acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has decided to appoint Tran Duc Thang as acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment, replacing his predecessor Do Duc Duy.

Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang

Tran Duc Thang was promoted to the new role from his previous position as Standing Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate.

He served as Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee from October 2022 to June 30, 2025.

On July 17, 2025, the Politburo decided to issue a warning to Do Duc Duy, former Minister of Agriculture and Environment for violating the Party regulations and State law in performing his duties when he served as Vice Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee.

Following the Politburo's decision, the State President signed a decision to suspend Do Duc Duy's position as Minister of Agriculture and Environment.
