Flaws must be addressed to upgrade infrastructure: PM
 
PM Nguyen Tan Dung has requested infrastructure development mechanism and policy flaws be addressed to promote State management and prevent corruption and wastefulness in this field. 
 
He made the remark while chairing a national teleconference in Ha Noi on April 21 reviewing the implementation of Resolution No.13-NQ/TW on building synchronous infrastructure systems to turn Viet Nam into a modern industrialised country by 2020. The resolution was issued by the Party Central Committee on January 16, 2012. 
 
The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) reported that the implementation of the resolution has reaped encouraging results and elevated infrastructure. 
 
PM to attend 26th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia
 
PM Nguyen Tan Dung is to attend the 26 th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi, Malaysia from April 26-27 at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Abdul Razak. 
 
The 25th ASEAN Summit transpired in capital NayPyi Taw of Myanmar on November 11-13, 2014 with the adoption of a Declaration on the ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision, a Declaration on Strengthening the ASEAN Secretariat and Reviewing the ASEAN Organs, and a Joint Statement on Climate Change. 
 
Founded in August 1967, the regional grouping covers 10 member countries- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
 
Deputy PM: Agriculture essential for national development strategy
 
Developing agriculture and ensuring food security should play a central role in the national development strategy of any country, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said. 
 
Speaking at a debate session in the framework of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2015 in Jakarta which focused on ways to improve food security in Asia in the future, Deputy PM Phucstressed that governments around the world need to make strong their commitments to agricultural development. 

He stated that Viet Nam continually works hard to accelerate its agricultural restructuring in order to build an environmentally friendly sector creating highly competitive products. 
 
MOU signed to boost trade between VN, Southeast Asia
 
The United Overseas Bank (UOB) and Viet Nam's Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at increasing foreign direct investment (FDI) and trade between the country and Southeast Asia.
 
Under the MOU, the two sides will host trade delegations, provide business referrals and organisekey industry events for companies interested in expanding into Viet Nam.
 
The MOU signing was witnessed by Lim Hng Kiang, Singapore's Minister of Trade and Industry, and Bui Quang Vinh, Viet Nam's Minister of Planning and Investment. The MOU marks the first such collaboration between FIA and a bank.
 
 
VN responses to World Immunisation Week 2015
 
The Ministry of Health (MOH) will hold several activities to response to the World ImmunisationWeek 2015 launched by the World HealthOrganisation (WHO) in the Western Pacific Region from April 24-30.
 
The event aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect peopleagainst diseases, intensify monitoring vaccine-preventable diseases and eliminate poliomyelitis, introduce new and updated vaccines and develop future vaccine generations.
 
Da Nang Int’l Fireworks Competition
 
The countdown is on until five prestigious pyrotechnic companies light up the Da Nang city skies on April 29 to May 3 as part of the annual International Fireworks Competition.
 
The event is expected to feature spectacular performances by Howard & Son Fireworks from Australia, Fireworks for Africa from South Africa,Pyrotecnico from the US, Surex Firma Rodzinnafrom Poland and the Da Nang City Team.
  
The Fireworks Championships is an event which literally lights up the whole of Da Nang, an organizer of the event said.
 
VN Airlines' first 787-9 Dreamliner takes shape
 
National carrier, Viet Nam Airlines, has announced on April 20 that the assembly of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has been completed and is scheduled for delivery in June.
 
This will be the first Asian airline to deploy a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on direct routes from Southeast Asia to Europe, beginning with services from Ha Noiand Ho Chi Minh City to London, England (UK).
 
The airliner also features modern equipment to make passengers feel more comfortable during long-haul flights.

VIB named Best Banking Deal VN 2015
 
Viet Nam International Bank (VIB) has been honoured as the “Best Banking Deal Viet Nam 2015″ and “Fastest Growing Retail Bank in Viet Nam 2015″ by Global Banking and Finance Review.
 
Previously, in March 2015, VIB  received the “Leading SME Trade Bank" award from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and “Viet Nam Excellent Brand” prize jointly offered by the Viet Nam Economic Times and the Trade Promotion Agency (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade).
 
The awards are offered annually to honour financial organisations that stand out in particular areas of expertise in the banking and finance industry.
