President Vo Van Thuong meets Russian counterpart Putin in Beijing
VGP – President Vo Van Thuong on Tuesday met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing, China as the pair arrived there for the 3rd Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation.
President Vo conveyed greetings of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to President Putin.
The two Presidents expressed their pleasure at the fine developments of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia as evidenced by high political trust, broad and deep cooperation scope, and increasingly substantial cooperation.
Viet Nam always bears in mind the support and assistance offered by Russian people for the country's course of national development and protection, affirmed President Vo.
He emphasized that Viet Nam always considers Russia one of its partners of top importance and wishes to work with Russia to further promote the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia across fields for the benefits and prosperity of the countries.
President Vo highly valued and thanked President Putin and Russian authorities for their support and assistance throughout the construction process of the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Saint Petersburg, saying this is the special symbol and it was inaugurated June 30, 2023 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's first arrival in Russia.
President Putin extended his greetings to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior Vietnamese leaders, affirming that Viet Nam is one of Russia's most important partners in Asia-Pacific.
Putin was glad with the fine development of the bilateral ties as well as the cohesion of the two peoples, saying that both countries will mark 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on basic principles for the friendly relations between Viet Nam and Russia in 2024.
The two leaders agreed that potential and room for the two countries to further foster bilateral cooperation remain vast and they charted major orientations to boost the ties in the time to come through enhancing mutual understanding and political trust, improving the effectiveness of and expanding the scope of economic, trade, security-defense, science and technology, education and training, energy cooperation, promoting the role of such mechanisms as the Intergovernmental Commission for economic, trade, science and technology cooperation, free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasia Economic Union, and strengthening cooperation between the two countries' ministries and localities.
The leaders also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of shared concerns.
President Vo took the occasion to invite President Putin to soon visit Viet Nam. President Putin accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
