President Vo Van Thuong joins Central Military Commission
VGP - President Vo Van Thuong has been assigned to join the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, according to a decision by the Politburo.
The decision was announced in Ha Noi on July 3 at the sixth conference of the Central Military Commission for the 2020-2025 tenure, which was chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also secretary of the commission.
The conference aimed to evaluate the leadership's results in carrying out military and defense and Party building taskss in the first six months of the year, and figure out key tasks for the second half of the year.
Mr. Vo Van Thuong, 53, was elected State President of Viet Nam at an extraordinary session of the National Assembly in early March 2023.
According to the Constitution, the President is the Head of the State who commands the people's armed forces and holds the position of Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council./.
