President Vo Van Thuong hosts former Chilean President
VGP - President Vo Van Thuong on March 27 hosted a reception for former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet who is on a visit to Viet Nam for the celebration of the 52nd founding anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties (March 25, 1971-2023).
At the meeting, President Vo warmly welcomed President Bachelet and highly appreciated her affection and special attention in consolidating and developing the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Chile.
Vo said that the two sides' maintenance of delegation exchanges, especially high-level delegations, was significant in promoting cooperation.
He also highly appreciated Bachelet, as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, for making many positive contributions to the joint work of the United Nations and the international community.
For her part, Bachelet expressed thanks to thank President Vo for taking the time to receive and Vietnamese diplomatic missions for coordinating in organizing the Chilean delegation's visit.
She said the delegation would visit Binh Duong and Nghe An provinces to promote cooperation with Vietnamese localities and people-to-people exchange activities.
Emphasizing the critical significance of the 52nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Chile, Bachelet recalled vital milestones in the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
She expressed pride that Chile was one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations with Viet Nam./.
