President To Lam arrives in Phnom Penh, starting a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from July 12-13.

The President was welcomed by Senior Minister, Minister in Charge of General Affairs, Minister of the Royal Palace Kuy Sophal, Minister of Tourism Sok Soken, Cambodian Ambassador to Viet Nam Sok Soken and Vietnamese Ambassador in Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang.

The visit is made at the invitation of King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, the President’s visit reaffirms the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policies and viewpoints of attaching importance to consolidating and strengthening the relations with neighboring countries, including Cambodia.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet was quoted as saying that the visit will create new impulses for the bilateral relationship to grow more intensively and comprehensively, while promoting cooperation within multilateral frameworks.

Viet Nam is now Cambodia's third largest trade partner after China and the U.S., and biggest trade partner in ASEAN, with two-way trade turnover exceeding US$8.57 billion last year and US$4.6 billion in the first five months of this year. The figure is expected to hit at least US$10 billion this year, towards the target of US$20 billion set by the two Prime Ministers during Hun Manet’s Viet Nam visit in December 2023.

Regarding investment, Viet Nam is running 205 valid projects in the neighboring country with a total registered capital of US$2.94 billion, ranking first in ASEAN and among the top five foreign investors in Cambodia./.
