President to attend 2023 APEC Economic Leaders' Week in U.S.

VGP – Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong will attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Week in San Francisco, the U.S. from November 14-17 at the invitation of President Joe Biden, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday.

President Vo Van Thuong's trip came two months after Viet Nam and the U.S. upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership during President Joe Biden's visit to Viet Nam.

APEC meetings throughouth this year have focused on regional economic issues, including sustainability, digitalization, women's economic empowerment, trade facilitation, energy security, food security, and health.

The APEC Economic Leaders' Week, the final event of the APEC U.S. Host Year, will bring economic leaders, ministers, the private sectors, and other stakesholders togethers to engage on global challenges.

This year marks 25 years since Viet Nam joined APEC, a forum of 21 member economies in the Asia-Pacific region, which account for nearly 40 percent of the global population, nearly 50 percent of global trade, and 60 percent of the global GDP./.
