President Obama talks about VN-U.S. relations

VGP – U.S. President Barack Obama delivered remarks on Viet Nam-US relations on May 24 in Ha Noi with the participation of 2,000 spectators including intellectuals, students, young entrepreneurs, and representatives from relevant ministries and agencies.

President Obama mentioned differences between the US and Viet Nam together with solutions to handling them and put forth orientations for boosted bilateral cooperation and development in the time to come.

President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organization (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong made a welcome speech.

The event was jointly hosted by the VUFO and the U.S. Embassy in Viet Nam.

Earlier on May 23, President Obama announced the decision to fully lift the ban on lethal arms sales to Viet Nam which was regarded as a move to complete the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Several foreign newspapers carried news stories highlighting the ongoing visit to Viet Nam by U.S. President Barack Obama.

They considered it a “historic decision” which was of great significance to shape the future relationship between the two sides./.
