November 26, 2006 7:24 PM GMT+7

In the cosy and cordial atmosphere, the President highlighted landmark events in the country's external service in 2006, describing them as great achievements that left good impression on Vietnamese people and international friends.

The President urged them to make greater efforts to improve Vietnam’s status and image on the international arena. The diplomatic service should do better in external information. They should take initiatives in communicating religious and human right issues as in fact, a number of countries have not been provided with adequate, legitimate information about Vietnam. The Vietnamese diplomatic agencies abroad should proactively study international laws and practices, and policies and regulations regarding marketing and products as well as business culture in the host countries to assist Vietnamese enterprises in dealing with international trade barriers and disputes in contribution to facilitating Vietnam’s integration efforts.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States of America Nguyễn Tâm Chiến, on behalf of the 82 head representatives, pledged that the external service will make most efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges so as to fulfill  their assignments to the best in the era of new opportunities for the sake of the country’s sustainable development in its drive to integrate deeper into the international economy.
