President meets foreign leaders on sidelines of 80th anniversary of victory against fascism in Beijing

President Luong Cuong meets First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, Beijing, China, September 3, 2025

The foreign leaders are from Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Timor Leste, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Congo and Zimbabwe.

During these meetings, the President reiterated that Viet Nam's achievements could not have been attained without the support and assistance of its brotherly and friendly nations.

He expressed his confidence that Viet Nam and these countries will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder for peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

The foreign leaders congratulated Viet Nam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2), affirmed to attach importance to the friendship with Viet Nam, and expected to further advance cooperation with Viet Nam in all areas.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni expressed impressions of his visit to Viet Nam in November 2024 and thanked the Party, State, and People of Viet Nam for their warm sentiments and thoughtful reception.

He took the occasion to extend congratulations to Viet Nam on the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

The King emphasized that under all circumstances, the two countries stand in solidarity and support each other in development.

He expressed his wish to further strengthen solidarity and cooperation among Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia, thereby contributing to stability and promoting cooperation within each country and across the region.

First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez expressed his delight at having attended the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Viet Nam's National Day (September 2).

He expressed thanks to Viet Nam for the material and spiritual support for Cuba, expecting to continue coordinating closely in implementing cooperation programs to promote the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Cuba towards a more intensive and sustainable manner.

President Luong Cuong meets Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Beijing, China, September 3, 2025

General Secretary of the Workers' Party and President of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un recalled memories and impressions of Viet Nam's land and people from his visit six years ago, asserting that the DPRK always values its relations with Viet Nam.

The two sides vowed to continue enhancing all-level delegation exchanges, thereby consolidating political trust and creating new momentum to further strengthen relations between the two Parties, the two States, and the two peoples.

President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto emphasized the need to work closely to advance the implementation of high-level agreements, thereby creating a framework for carrying out the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and Indonesia, which was upgraded during General Secretary To Lam's State visit in March 2025.

Both sides will actively make preparation for activities marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim consented with President Luong Cuong’s proposal to substantively and effectively implement the Viet Nam–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. 

The two sides exchanged views on regional issues and vowed to work together with other member states to build a united, cohesive, and resilient ASEAN, making positive contributions to peace, stability, and development in the region.

President of the National Parliament of Timor Leste Maria Fernanda Lay thanked the Vietnamese President expressed her desire for the country to officially become the 11th member of ASEAN, thereby contributing to building an inclusive, cohesive, and resilient ASEAN Community.

President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh spoke highly of the outcomes of General Secretary To Lam's visit at the end of 2024 and pledged to work together to effectively implement the important results achieved during the visit.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting relations in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture and tourism.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his wish to further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries, especially enhancing exchanges of delegations at all levels and promoting collaboration in trade and investment, energy, oil and gas, and mining.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev agreed with President Luong's proposal to further advance the newly established strategic partnership, effectively implement the outcomes of General Secretary To Lam's visit to Azerbaijan in May, and strengthen ties in potential fields such as education and training, defense and security, culture, sports, tourism, and local-to-local partnerships.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon affirmed his appreciation for the traditional relations and cooperation with Viet Nam.

He conveyed his readiness to pay an early visit to Viet Nam, expecting that the two countries would enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, organize business cooperation forums, establish direct flights, and create favorable conditions for travel between their peoples.

President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou N'Guesso Denis Sassou N'Guesso, and President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa agreed with the Vietnamese President's proposal to deepen the ties of friendship and cooperation with Africa's traditional partners, including the Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe.

They also agreed to continue close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, particularly within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Group of 77 (G-77)./.
