President meets Chinese Party chief, President in Thailand
VGP - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 18.
The meeting took place within the framework of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week.
The two leaders highly appraised the achievements in the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, especially the crucial outcomes of the recent official visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
The Vietnamese President asserted that the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam always attach importance to consolidating and developing the friendship and cooperation with their Chinese counterparts, regarding the relations as a top priority of its foreign policy.
Nguyen expected to foster relations between the two Parties and the two countries in a healthy, stable, and long-term manner.
He suggested both sides effectively carry out the high-level common perceptions on major cooperation orientations, and direct their authorities and sectors to properly implement the joint statement on continuing to promote and deepen the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership issued in November 2022 during the Vietnamese Party chief's recent official visit to China.
The Vietnamese leader emphasized the importance of bringing the bilateral relations to a new phase with solid and trustworthy political ties, substantive and effective cooperation, consolidated friendship, and differences under control.
He took the occasion to convey the invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the top Chinese leader to soon pay a visit to Viet Nam.
For his part, Xi Jinping reiterated that the Party, Government, and people of China highly treasure the relations with Viet Nam.
China is willing to bolster coordination with the Vietnamese side to strengthen friendship and cooperation, thus unceasingly developing the countries' relations, he underscored.
