Viet Nam, Cambodia cement and deepen practical ties

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc leaves for a State visit to Cambodia, December 21, 2021.

He is accompanied by Minister of Public Security To Lam, Minister of Defense Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Chairman of the President's Office Le Khanh Hai.

This is the first visit of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Cambodia after the 13th National Party Congress and it is also the first senior Vietnamese leader’s official visit to Cambodia over the last two years since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The visit aims to implement the 13th National Party Congress’s foreign policy, manifesting the nation attaching importance to developing relations with neighboring countries.

This State visit is also one of the first events among activities to celebrate the Viet Nam-Cambodia and Cambodia–Viet Nam friendship year and mark the 55th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties (June 24, 2022).

It also creates an opportunity for both sides’ leaders to assess the outcomes of the bilateral cooperation and discuss measures for fostering ties in the upcoming time as well as exchange regional and international issues of mutual concerns.
