President hosts welcome ceremony for UN Secretary-General
VGP - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a welcome ceremony for United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the Presidential Palace in Ha Noi on October 21.
António Guterres arrived in Ha Noi the same day, starting his two-day official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Climate action will be high on the agenda of the United Nations Secretary-General's visit to Viet Nam
Guterres is expected to pay tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and attend a ceremony to mark the 45th anniversary of Viet Nam’s UN membership on October 21.
The visit takes place after Viet Nam excellently performed its role as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure and was recently elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 tenure.
