President embarks on official visit to Japan
VGP – President Vo Van Thuong left Ha Noi on Sunday for an official visit to Japan from November 27-30.
This is Vo's first visit to Japan since he was elected President of Viet Nam last March and the 4th visit to Japan by a President of Viet Nam since the two countries established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1973.
President Vo is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the President's Office Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Japan Pham Quang Hieu among others.
The visit is of significant importance as it takes place on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic relations.
During the four-day visit, both sides are expected to discuss and chart major orientations to further strengthen their extensive strategic partnership in a more comprehensive, substantive and effective fashion for the benefits of the two peoples and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world./.
