President calls on ASEAN, China to strengthen collaboration in transnational crime combat
VGP - President Vo Van Thuong called on ASEAN and China to enhance international cooperation and information sharing, especially among judicial and law enforcement agencies, to prevent transnational crime.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the 13th ASEAN-China Prosecutors-General Conference in Ha Noi on December 6, Vo held that China and ASEAN established a strategic partnership in 2003 and upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2021.
ASEAN and China have launched many cooperation mechanisms, including annual summits and thematic cooperation conferences, remarkably in fields of justice and law.
Vo expressed his hope that delegates to the conference will seek effective solutions to the fight against transnational crime, particularly high-tech crime to promote solidarity, friendship, and mutual understanding between ASEAN countries and China, for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
With the theme of strengthening international cooperation in fighting high-tech and transnational crimes, the conference serves as an international forum for heads of procuracy and prosecutor's offices of ASEAN member countries and China to discuss measures to promote bilateral and multilateral friendship and cooperation.
It also offers a platform for participants to share successes, good practices, difficulties and challenges in the fight against high-tech crime in ASEAN member countries and China; and propose cooperative measures to better the effectiveness of the fight against transnational organized crime in general and cross-border high-tech crime in particular.
Alternately held by the procuracy and procurator's offices of ASEAN member countries and China over nearly 20 years, the conference has become an important multilateral international legal cooperation forum in the region./.
