The Ceremonial Ploughing Festival is a cultural highlight of the New Year’s first few days.
The event helps younger generations deepen their understandings of national customs and show their love for the labour that fuels national development.
The Tich Dien-Doi Son Festival is a traditional annual farming celebration—restored by the Ha Nam provincial People’s Committee—to pray for good weather and a bumper harvest.
The first Vietnamese Le Tich Dien was held in 987 AD during the reign of King Le Dai Hanh in the then capital Hoa Lu. The king himself acted as master of ceremonies and personally ploughed the field.
Le Tich Dien was organised throughout the Ly, Tran, and Le dynasties, promoting agricultural production with great success./.
