Politburo names two new Chairmen of Central Commissions

VGP - The Politburo on Wednesday assigned Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang as new Chairman of the Central Economic Commission.

Tran, 57, is a native of Trang Bang ward, Trang Bang town of the Southern province of Tay Ninh. He is alternate member of the 11th Party Central Committee, member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee.

In April 2021, he was appointed Secretary of the Party Committee of Hai Phong City. In January 2023, he took office as Deputy Prime Minister.

From October 2010 to February 2019, he served as Standing Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tay Ninh province, Chairman of the People's Council of Tay Ninh province.

From February 2019 to April 2021, he was Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

From April 2021 to January 2023, he was Secretary of the Party Committee of Hai Phong City.

Tran was promoted to the role as Deputy Prime Minister in January 2023.

On this occasion, Deputy Head of the PCC's Commission for Organization Mai Van Chinh was appointed as the Chairman of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization./.
