The Government chief urged the locality to drastically follow the Cabinet’s Resolution 11 to rein in inflation, stabilize macro-economy, ensure social welfare and fulfill this year targets.

PM Dũng recommended that the southern province should make the best use of local advantages in oil and gas exploration and exploitation, tourism, seaports and heavy industry to achieve rapid and sustainable development.

He asked Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu to mobilize all resources for synchronous infrastructure construction in all fields and to attach importance to training human resources, especially those with high qualifications.

Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, as he said, should coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to speed up construction progress of the Thị Vải-Cái Mép deepwater seaport.

Mr. Dũng also stressed the need to combine economic development with social welfares, poverty reduction and environmental protection, health and education, and ensure sea and island security and defense.

General Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Tuấn Minh reported that, in the first half of 2010, the province’s GDP expanded at 12% and industrial production surged 14%.

Earlier, the PM visited the construction site of the first 90m jack-up drilling rig of Việt Nam which was invested by the Việt Nam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam)./
