PM suggests U.S. remove Viet Nam from strategic export control list
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the U.S. to remove Viet Nam from the strategic export control list (D1-D3).

Pham made the call during a reception for John Moolenaar, Congressman of Michigan state, who is also a member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee on May 28 in Ha Noi.
He took the occasion to urge the U.S. to promote the process of recognizing Viet Nam's market economy status.
Prime Minister Pham informed the delegation about Viet Nam's major development orientations in which the country regards the private economic sector as the most important driving force, and science - technology, innovation, digital transformation, and green transition as strategic breakthroughs in the new development stage of the country, towards the goal of becoming a upper-middle income country by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045.
Regarding the tariff issue, Pham suggested that during the negotiation process, the U.S. should pay attention to Viet Nam's specific conditions and circumstances, have a more balanced approach to maintain sustainable, healthy and stable trade relations, bringing practical benefits to businesses and people of the two countries.
In reply, Moolenaar and other members of the U.S. Congress expressed their impression of the strong development of Viet Nam and the Viet Nam-US relationship over the past 30 years.
Moolenaar agreed that the U.S. will continue cooperation with and support Viet Nam in achieving its strategic development goals.
He pledged to make greater efforts to promote the bilateral relations, including economic and trade ties as well as tariff negotiations between the two countries./.
