PM receives outgoing US Ambassador

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has hosted a reception to Mr. Michael Michalak who has just wrapped up his Ambassadorship in Việt Nam.

The Vietnamese PM highly hailed Mr. Michael Michalak for his contribution to economic, trade, investment, educational activities as well as the combat against climate change and sea level rise.

The host leader stated that Việt Nam will spare no effort, together with the US, to bring the bilateral ties to new heights, on the basis of friendship, mutual benefits, respect and understanding, for the sake of pecea, stability and development in the world.

PM Dũng expected that the US and Việt Nam could reach an agreement on civil nuclear cooperation and that the US would back Việt Nam’s negotiations for the full membership of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

For his part, Ambassador Michael Michalak asserted that official visits made by senior leaders of the two countries over the past time have significantly made the bilateral relationship more practical and effective.

He underlined the recent visit to Việt Nam by US Secretary of State H. Clinton, which confirms the US aspiration to upgrade the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.

The diplomat pledged to continue his contributions to the development of the bilateral ties.
