PM leads National Steering Committee for implementation of Resolution 79 on State economy development

VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has decided to establish a National Steering Committee for the implementation of the Politburo's Resolution No. 79-NQ/TW on State economy development.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shall lead the Committee while Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang will serve as Vice Chairs.

Members of the Committee include: Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Manh Khuong, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan, Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Y Vinh Tor, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long, Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tu, Vice Chairwoman of the Government Office Mai Thi Thu Van, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Inspector-General of the Government Inspectorate Duong Quoc Huy.

Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Office Vo Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Economic and Financial Affairs Nguyen Thuy Chinh, and representatives from the Central Commission for Education, Communication and Mass Mobilization, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Central Policy and Strategy Commission, and the State Audit of Viet Nam shall be invited to join the Committee.

Other members of the Committee include Chairman of Vietnam Airlines Corporation Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Tao Duc Thang, Chairman of Viet Nam National Industry-Energy Group Le Ngoc Son, General Director of the Electricity of Viet Nam Nguyen An Tuan, General Director of Viet Nam Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Vu Anh Tuan.

The Steering Committee shall assist the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating the implementation of major inter-sectoral issues related to the development of State economy.

Resolution 79-NQ/TW, dated January 6, reaffirms the State economy’s leading role in Viet Nam's economy in maintaining macroeconomic stability, safeguarding major economic balances, and ensuring national defence and security.

The Resolution stresses that the State economy is equal before the law with other economic sectors and is expected to compete and cooperate on a fair and transparent basis, with equitable access to resources, markets, and development opportunities.

By 2030, Viet Nam aims to have 50 SOEs among Southeast Asia’s 500 largest firms and one to three in the global top 500.

By 2045, Viet Nam aims to place around 60 SOEs among Southeast Asia’s 500 largest companies and five within the world’s top 500./.
