PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomes Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha (L).

Receiving the Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, PM Phuc highlighted the vigorous growth of the Viet Nam-RoK relations and cooperation across multiple fields since the state-visit to Viet Nam of RoK President Moon Jae-in earlier this year.

The government leader asked the RoK to assist Viet Nam in building an e-government and to pay greater attention to the Vietnamese community in the country.

On the occasion, the Korean diplomat conveyed regards from President Moon Jae-in to the host and extolled the socio-economic development and international integration recorded by Viet Nam in the recent past. She said her nation attributes great importance to strengthening relations and cooperation with Viet Nam and stays ready to join hands with the country in dealing with trade-related issues.

She affirmed the RoK’s willingness to help the Vietnamese community in the country and share experience with Viet Nam in building an e-government, adding that she herself and her ministry will continue working more closely with Vietnam in expediting the implementation of the high-level agreement in a practical and effective manner to bring bilateral ties to a higher level.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Japanese FM Taro Kono (L)

At the reception for the Japanese FM Taro Kono, PM Phuc showed his delight at the rapid, practical and comprehensive development of the Viet Nam – Japan relations, saying that the promotion of the recent exchange of high-level delegations has helped further consolidate mutual trust.

He said he hopes for stronger ASEAN – Japan and Mekong – Japan cooperation, especially when Viet Nam performs its role of the coordinator of the ASEAN – Japan relations in the 2018-2021 period.

Phuc praised Japan for its provision of official development assistance (ODA) to Viet Nam over the past years and affirmed the Vietnamese Government’s high regard for the assistance and its determination to effectively implement ODA projects.

In reply, FM Kono expressed his wish to contribute to the success of the WEF ASEAN 2018 and the further enhancement of the Viet Nam – Japan ties and cooperation. He said Japan greatly values Viet Nam’s proactive role and positive contributions to international and regional issues, and called for closer coordination from Viet Nam for the success of the upcoming Mekong – Japan Summit.

He asserted his nation’s readiness to help Viet Nam increase labour productivity, share experience with Viet Nam in building an e-government, and back the country and other ASEAN member states’ stances on the East Sea issues when Viet Nam has assumed the role of coordinator of the ASEAN – Japan relations from 2018.
