PM hails Samsung’s presence in Viet Nam

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed the Vietnamese Government will continiue creating most favorable conditions for Samsung’s operations in Viet Nam at his reception for President and CEO of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd Dongjin Koh on April 20.

The Government chief hailed Samsung’s contributions to Viet Nam’s economic development, saying he is proud of Samsung’s presence in Viet Nam, which has turned the Southeast Asian nation into one of the world’s leading cellphone production centers.

The Vietnamese Government highly valued the RoK’s investors, especially Samsung to maintain their status as the largest investors in Viet Nam over the past years, contributing to the Viet Nam-RoK Strategic Partnership, he added.

He congratulated Samsung on its 10th founding anniversary in Viet Nam. Samsung has so far invested in six projects worth over US$17.3 billion in Viet Nam.

In 2017, Samsung Viet Nam posted a revenue of nearly US$64 billion, with export value reaching US$54 billion or 25.4% of Viet Nam’s total export values.

PM Phuc expected that Samsung will soon launch its research and development center as committed to the Government and continue training and technology transfer for Vietnamese firms in the support industry, particularly small- and medium-sized ones, to help them engage in supplying components for Samsung projects.

Mr. Dongjin Koh expressed thanks to the PM and the relevant agencies for supporting Samsung’s operations in Viet Nam over the past decades. 

Samsung always prioritizes applying the most advanced technologies in its production in Viet Nam, he said. 

Dongjin Koh pleaded that Samsung will continue increase investment and production scales in Viet Nam in the upcoming time./.
